Start-ups present - Beyond1435 becomes an innovation platform

On August 10, the participants of the DB Accelerator "Future of Maintenance" and the BEYOND1435 "Smart City Tech" program presented their DB-specific solutions. The eleven start-ups demonstrated what they have been doing in the DB mindbox over the last 100 days. The DB mindbox is the coworking space in Berlin, where DB employees together with start-ups develop digital solutions for the future of mobility.

Beyond1435 will be further developed into an open innovation platform with partners from the industry, said Ulrich Weber, Member of the Management Board for Human Resources and Law, keynote speaker of the Expo Days. In addition to the Alba Group in Berlin, the Swiss Federal Railways SBB, Bombardier Transportation Group and Siemens AG will be co-operating from September 1, The DB already promotes established, innovative start-ups.

Core business

The start-ups KINEMIC, Blunder, Eco-Adapt, iNDTact, Lexa Texer andMachines with Vision developed prototypes of hard- or software solutions for maintenance-free, repair and maintenance together with DB-mentors in 100 days. The company KINEMIC exemplarily showed how its software can support maintenance staff at DB. With the help of the gesture control developed by KINEMIC, it is no longer necessary to take off the gloves, for example, in order to digitally document a work step. For KINEMIC and the five other start-ups, it is a question of convincing the representatives from the business areas of the benefits of their ideas for DB and of continuing the cooperation.

Solutions for the networked city

In the last three months, the companies, Airmada, Myki, My Voice, Naventik and XapiX, have worked on the investment of their products by the representatives of DB Digital Ventures, which is responsible for start-ups at DB convince. DB is looking for mobility, infrastructure and logistics services for the city of tomorrow. One of the start-ups, whose product brings the digital mobility of the future a bit closer, is Naventik. The founders from Chemnitz have developed a satellite-based positioning system for autonomously operated vehicles on the road. For the DB, the improved navigation and the application possibilities for autonomous shuttles are of interest. What start-ups DB Digital Ventures could convince will be announced in the coming months.
