Berthold Huber

Member of the Management Board for Traffic

Berthold Huber was named Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn AG for Traffic as of Mach 22, 2017.

Berthold Huber has been at Deutsche Bahn since 1997. After earning a degree in political science, Huber began his career as a management consultant in 1990. He was then appointed Head of Organizational Change Management at Schitag Ernst&Young Unternehmensberatung GmbH in 1996. A native of Heidelberg, Huber held various leadership positions at DB Regio AG before being promoted to HR Manager on the Regional Management team of DB Regio in Bavaria in 2001. He was appointed Chairman of the Regional Management in 2003. During his seven years in Bavaria, Huber helped make the local and regional transport operator more competitive and greatly increased its volume sold in competitive bidding.

Huber joined DB Netz AG as Member of the Management Board for Human Resources in 2008. He was then named head of DB's long-distance transport division in November 2010. After setting records in passenger numbers, revenues and profit in 2012, the 51-year-old played a major role in developing the new long-distance transport strategy introduced in March 2015, which aims to expand services by one fourth and increase ridership by 50 million passengers annually by 2030. From 1 August 2015 to 22 March 2017 he was Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn AG for Traffic and Transport. Huber is married and has four children.
