DB Digital Ventures GmbH
Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures GmbH began its business activities on November 15, 2016. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG.
The DB Group has made developing and implementing new data-driven business models a top priority, with a view to tapping the opportunities afforded by digitalization both within and outside its core rail business. Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures GmbH puts DB in a strong position to pursue that priority. The new company will work to step up DB's collaboration with start-ups and streamline the acquisition of interests in companies. An estimated EUR 100 million in venture capital will be made available for this purpose between now and 2019.
Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures will also work to foster entrepreneurial spirit at DB and support intrapreneurship within the Group, offering DB employees the opportunity to found their own startups under ideal conditions.
Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures has two Managing Directors: Manuel Gerres, the Head of New Digital Business at DB, and Boris Kühn, who is responsible for M&A in DB's Finance department.
