For Deutsche Bahn, we manage one of the largest multipleenergy portfolios in Germany. We also possess a unique infrastructure for delivering electric and traction power, and for supplying petroleum-based fuels and lubricants to train operating companies.

DB Energie is responsible for the management of 16.7 Hz traction current and direct current supply and thus provides the day-to-day basis for electric railway operations in Germany. The company supplies energy to trains run by all railway undertakings which use 16.7 Hz traction current or direct current on the approx. 18,800 km electrified lines of Deutsche Bahn. This enables more than 25,000 trains to run every day.

DB Energie is a reliable, round-the-clock provider of diesel fuels for railway vehicles and, at an increasing number of sites, for buses and road freight trucks. In addition to Deutsche Bahn AG, about 200 other trainoperating and rail infrastructure companies make use of our services, as do numerous industrial and commercial customers from the road-traffic sector.

In its 5400 railway stations located nationwide, Deutsche Bahn AG maintains around 1.5 million square metres of space that is used for commercial and business purposes. About 850,000 square metres of this area is leased to commercial companies. The rest is used by the DB Group itself for travel information centres, passenger lounges or administrative offices. We also supply power to the areas surrounding the stations and other railway facilities.

Customers outside our supply networks can also profit from the specialist know-how at DB Energie. Our experts will develop energy procurement strategies tailored to the market conditions and will support customers in the implementation phase.
