DB Netz AG currently provides the following additional services:

a) Usage of train path tracks not covered by train path offer

The use of train path tracks is possible for a period of over one hour before or after the period of time listed in the train path offer subject no other rights to use being made.

b) Issuing of permits for special exceptional transports

Consignments which, due their external dimensions, weight or general nature, can only be carried under special technical or operating conditions are deemed to be special consignments (SCs). Issuing the authorisation necessary for their conveyance is an additional service by DB Netz AG. For further regulations governing SCs, please refer to 2.4 and 4.2.4 of DB Netz AG’s Network Statement (see adjacent link).

c) Timetable adjustments after submission of train path request (change)

Processing amendments in the network timetable that are requested by a customer subsequent to their train path application having been submitted and the time limit for train path applications as laid down in Subclause 4.2.1 of the DB Netz AG Network Statement having elapsed is an additional service provided by DB Netz AG. Amendments are taken to mean amendments made by the customer to their basic train path data subsequent to submitting their application that entail the train path applied for being adapted or redesigned. Such amendments include the following:

• changes to the load submitted in the application
• length longer than stated
• weaker traction unit
• lower maximum speed
• lower braked weight percentage
• changes to the train number or train category 
• changes to train routes and requested re-routings
• changes to an activated on-demand train path
• unscheduled stops (excluding emergencies)
• changes to the train path user

d) Journeys outside track opening times

The network timetable valid when DB Netz AG’s Network Statement was drawn up forms the basis for the line operating hours for occasional services. If specifically requested by a customer, services can be run on a line outside its normal operating hours upon consultation with DB Netz AG provided that DB Netz AG is informed in good time and that the requisite staffing of the local operating facilities can be ensured. Services on a line outside its normal operating hours are subject to a special charge according to the list of charges for additional services as services on a line outside of its normal operating hours constitutes an additional service provided by DB Netz AG.

DB Netz AG lines with restricted operating hours are shown on the “Line operating hours” map in the Annex 5 and 6 to the Network Statement published by DB Netz AG (cf. link at top right).

Charges for additional services

The list of charges for additional services forms part of the list of charges for the Train Path Pricing System (cf. “Train paths”).

Further additional services that are not, however, provided by DB Netz AG:

• provision of traction current
• provision of energy to preheat passenger trains
• provision of fuels
