Biking by rail
Why not take your bicycle along when you travel with us?
Überspringen: Why not take your bicycle along when you travel with us?You'd like to travel by rail, but don’t want to do without your bicycle? No problem. Deutsche Bahn will take it for you. This service is available on many long-distance trains and on most of our local trains. Not even on the night train do you have to go without your bike. You can reserve bicycle space on most night train lines. You will also need to reserve a space for your bicycle on long-distance trains.
Trains offering the Bahn&Bike service are identified on arrival and departure schedules, in printed timetables and train schedules available on CD-ROM. This information is also available, of course, on Deutsche Bahn's website. Travel Service staff will be glad to help you find train connections that offer the Bahn&Bike service. Deutsche Bahn has its own hotline for those interested in this service:
01805-151415 (EUR 0.14/min, within in Germany only).
How much does all this cost? For just EUR 8 one way you can take your bike on long-distance trains. BahnCard holders receive a discount on their bike tickets, so that they only have to pay EUR 6 one way for the Bahn&Bike service. And for only EUR 3, you can take your bike on local trains. Please note that prices in some transport associations may differ from DB prices.

By the way: you can actually let your bike travel all by itself. The “KurierGepäck” courier service will deliver your bicycle to the destination of your choice within two to three working days. For further information, please call: 01805-4848 (EUR 0.12/min, in Germany only).
With our “Call a Bike” service you don’t even need to have your own bicycle to pedal around Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main and Cologne. Deutsche Bahn has a total of 4,500 CallBikes. You will find them at many major crossings and railway stations. All you do is make a phone call for EUR 0.06/min to hire the silver-red bicycles for EUR 15 per day at the most. Do a little shopping or simply enjoy a perfect day in the fresh air.
