The outdoor area of the DB Museum

skip: The outdoor area of the DB Museum
The outdoor area of the DB Museum provides a venue for extra-large exhibits, from shunter’s hut to signal box.

Visitors will find it well worth their while to explore the outdoor area of the museum, which is located on the other side of the street. It contains two interesting signal box buildings that date back to the beginning of the 20th century. The outdoor museum provided a new home for these buildings and saved them from demolition.

Signal box 2 offers a clear view of the trains entering and leaving Nuremberg central station. The ensemble is rounded off by a replica of an old platform, a shunter’s hut, a warning bell and historic signals.

Young visitors can work off surplus energy at the playground or, at weekends, experience railway operations in miniature during a trip with the museum’s park railway.

After a trip around the museum, school classes can use the rail trolley.
