Machines With Vision
"Fingerprinting" track beds
Machines With Vision, an Edinburgh-based startup, uses event cameras to record images of tracks. The software invented by the Scottish entrepreneurs creates an image of the rail surface for pinpointing and retrieving the same spot with around 2 cm accuracy.
The RailLoc solution identifies change and objects in the track bed in real time, even when traveling at high speeds. Trains can collect data about the condition of the track bed and detect any variation during runs. All of DB's measurement trains will be equipped with the system by the end of 2019. Machines With Vision participated in the DB mindbox StartupXpress program in 2017.
