Sensors with keen hearing – predictive maintenance reduces faults
Dynamic Components is a start-up that offers DB's maintenance technicians a holistic solution for the straightforward attachment of fine sensors to elevators and escalators. The sensors collect data from mechanical components and environmental influences. A mini-computer transmits measurements to the cloud or servers. This data can then be used to better gage when a component will next need maintenance, which will in turn prevent failures. The solution also enables predictive maintenance for switches and signals.
Dynamic Components is a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich and took part in the second round of the DB Accelerator support program in 2016. Its work with Deutsche Bahn has resulted in a means of collecting sensors' data for predictive maintenance of DB's systems.
