Smart switches – digital monitoring for ties

KONUX was one of the first start-ups to work with DB, joining forces with us in 2015. Sensors developed by the company monitor the sinking of ties into ballast at high-speed lines' switches and report irregularities online. The Munich start-up was founded in 2014 and is rooted in labs at the Technical University of Munich. Together with its DB partners, KONUX is working on readying a system that analyzes bearer depth in high-speed transport for series production. Switches that undergo early maintenance work are better for safety and punctuality.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has appointed KONUX as one of the 30 most promising companies in the world in 2017 and has entered the circle of the so-called "Technology Pioneers". For this purpose, hundreds of international applicants are selected annually for those whose technologies will decisively influence the international economy and society in the opinion of the World Economic Forum. As the current title holder, KONUX remains an active member of the Technology Pioneers community for two years, following the footsteps of past award winners such as Airbnb, Google, Spotify and Twitter.

KONUX is one of the prize winners of the "Innovators under 35" 2017 competition of the "Technology Review". The prize was created 17 years ago by the US magazine MIT Technology Review. Meanwhile, the competition takes place in five countries across Europe.
