The Supervisory Board of DB has appointed three Members of the Management
All the positions on the Management Board are now filled.
On November 10th 2017, the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn has adopted the proposals of its Personnel Committee and appointed three new Members of the Management Board, each for a term of three years. All the positions on the Management Board are now filled.
Alexander Doll (47) will be the new Board Member for Freight Transport and Logistics, Professor Dr. Sabina Jeschke (49) will be the new Board Member for Digitalization and Technology, and Martin Seiler (53) will be the new Board Member for Human Resources and Legal Affairs.
Alexander Doll who has a degree in business administration and was trained as a banker, will be responsible for the DB Cargo and DB Schenker Business Units. Doll has been the CEO of Barclays Germany in Frankfurt since 2013. Prior to serving at Barclays, he worked at a variety of banks and financial institutions. Over the course of a career spanning more than 20 years, Doll has handled many domestic and international transactions in the transport and logistics sector and has acquired extensive knowledge of the industry. He has also advised us at DB on multiple projects and has assisted other leading international companies from the industry. Doll's experience means that he is very familiar with the current trends and challenges facing the transport and logistics sector.
The new Digitalization and Technology Division testifies to how important it is to continue digitalizing in the business. Sabina Jeschke whose doctorate is in physics, has held a research and teaching position at RWTH Aachen University for more than eight years. Jeschke is the Director of the interdisciplinary Cybernetics Lab in the Mechanical Engineering department. The lab researches the use of computer science and digital technology in engineering. Jeschke herself focuses on subjects which include transport and mobility, the internet of things, robotics and automation technology, and artificial intelligence. She has extensive experience in the industry, gained over the course of many different projects and partnerships with renowned companies.
Martin Seiler will assume the position of Board Member for Human Resources starting January 1 in 2018. He comes to DB from Telekom Deutschland GmbH, where he has been HR and Labor Director since June 2015, responsible for 70,000 employees. Seiler began his career in 1980 at Deutsche Post in Baden-Baden. After serving for more than 15 years as a member of the Works Council and the German Postal Workers Union, which later merged with ver.di, the German United Services Trade Union, Seiler was appointed to the management of Deutsche Post in Bonn in early 2003. He has served as HR Director at Deutsche Telekom since 2010.
Professor Dr. Dr. Utz-Hellmuth Felcht, the Chairman of the DB Supervisory Board, said after the meeting: "The decision to appoint these new members to the Management Board lays important groundwork for the future success of Deutsche Bahn, putting the company in a good position to tackle the major challenges it faces with regard to digitalization, HR, freight transport and logistics. It also generates new momentum for DB, and it is important to use this momentum to tap the many opportunities that exist for DB's customers and employees."
