ICE: wherever you are heading for, we have the right train for every route

skip: ICE: wherever you are heading for, we have the right train for every route
Whether you wish to go from Frankfurt to Cologne at 300 kilometres per hour or through the Saale valley with tilting technology: Deutsche Bahn has the right train for every route.

The routes that Deutsche Bahn travels are highly diverse – and so the trains that it uses have to be equally varied. That’s why Deutsche Bahn deploys no fewer than eight different models to take you to your destination.

On the high-speed routes, we deploy different versions of the ICE, such as the ICE with tilting technology which tilts like a motorcycle as it travels round curves to take it through the Saale valley faster, or the ICE which runs non-stop from Frankfurt to Berlin. There are now three generations of the Deutsche Bahn flagship. The first ICE went into operation on the German rail network in 1991, the second generation followed in 1996. The latest ICE now runs at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour. However, where the essentials are concerned, all the ICEs have one thing in common: they always offer the best possible service for our customers.

Our IC fleet has no need to fear comparison. As a rule, they link the major German cities at hourly intervals. When serving cross-border routes, these trains are called ECs. But whether InterCity or EuroCity– the standard of comfort remains the same.
