Deutsche Bahn moves Germany. Every day.

    One railway. Reliable. For everyone.

The immediate action programmes for a better railway.

More efficient, more reliable and determined to permanently and noticeably improve quality for passengers.

The modernisation of the infrastructure takes time. We are implementing three immediate action programmes so that customers can see that things are improving at DB: for improved cleanliness and security at our stations. For greater comfort on long-distance services. For a better customer information. For these three programmes, we are investing a total of more than 140 million euros in DB in 2026 alone.

Even cleaner trains and ever more reliable service in our dining cars make train journeys even more comfortable and attractive.

Increased presence of security staff, additional cleaning and quick repairs at railway stations ensure that people enjoy their stay and get to their trains in comfort.

In future, DB will provide customers with even better information before and during their journey - both on the train, at the station and in digital information channels.

Smart gloves for faster order picking

DB Schenker introduced ProGlove, a smart scanning glove, at its warehouse in Eching near Munich. ProGlove is a barcode scanner for the order picking process. The small, lightweight scanner is attached to a glove worn by warehouse employees.

ProGlove works a little like a ring scanner but features innovative functions and enhanced capabilities. The scanner rests on the back of the hand and is activated when the user makes a fist and presses their thumb and index finger together. The device provides instant feedback through light, sound and vibration when a barcode is scanned. A tablet provides employees with information from the warehouse management system, such as quantities and the next picking location.

Ring scanners, which have been commonplace until now, are cumbersome and not ergonomic. In comparison, ProGlove makes order picking faster, safer and easier. Employees wearing the glove can continue their work using both hands without having to stop to look for or grab a scanner. ProGlove provides a big efficiency boost and shortens process times by up to 40% compared with conventional scanner solutions.

At its facility in Eching, Bavaria, DB Schenker serves as the logistics services provider for a leading German automaker, providing car parts used for production. The ProGlove scanner is used to scan the barcodes of auto parts picked for orders.
